Flux 2010 Atlanta, GA
Last night turned out to be a pretty good night and interesting. As a last minute thing I decided to go with some friends to the Flux Art Festival in Downtown. I have to say I was surprised because there were different things going on. From Art Installations, open galleries to a very large smoky room you couldn't see anything to a tickle machine to a cabinet of curiosities to a fairy neon green house to 5 huge projections over large buildings. These last were magnificent.
While walking I realized that I had done the same thing last year and that the same event was actually called The Flash. Honestly I thought there were going to be more installations and more things to see but I was not disapointed at all. Last year I had the chance to see an incredible performance by some ballet that ended up in a water fountain. There were lots of people walking down in the middle of the beginning of fall and having fun. I have to say that this has been the most interesting festival I've gone in the year. That is because it is different, there are things you can interact with and most of all the people that show up there seem to be "Into the Groove" as I like to call it.
The 5 projections which by the way I didn't catch the name of the project was really interesting. Specially if you work around media. You could call from your cellphone to a number and actually hear the audio from the projections. Each projection had a different number to call.
And as every Atlantan there were a lot of familiar faces in the place. I don't know if I still like that or not. But what I can say is that the neighborhood of Castleberry Hill seems to be getting cooler every year.
