Gant Magazine, American Preppy Style at it's best. Spring Summer 2011
Gant has released this magazine as a way of communicating the personality of the brand. They've done a very good job in the concept of what the brand is and for who is it for. Dressing preppy it's not an easy task. The combinations, the materials and the weather. But if you live in Newport or somewhere very cool near the upper west coast well then this is you. I have to say here in Atlanta a lot of people dress like this, and now that it is the thing to do everyone embraces it in a way.
Gant is taking their work in a really cool and serious way. Displaying a lot of photographs that show the clothes, models, and beautiful places. The way I would put it its a more mature and a lot less nudity than the Abercrombie and Fitch Quaterly Magazine and a little more fun than Ralph Lauren. It seems that American Preppy style will still be hip in the following issues for fashion editors and for advertising campaigns. Also the part of the magazine that is dedicated to the section of Michael Bastian is pretty good and the styling of it seems to have a real thought behind it. Congratulations to Michael on this.
I don't know if Gant will start playing a big part in advertising I have to say that the winner for communicating American Style wordlwide is Tommy Hilfiger and it's Hilfigers fun family campaign. Not saying that Gant should go in that direction. But I'm pretty sure Gant has a more serious following than Tommy Hilfiger.
