Menomena and The Suckers, Variety Playhouse, Atlanta GA 09.10.10.
Friday night two girlfriends of mine invited me to see Menomena to the Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points. I had never heard of the band and decided to Google them and found their MySpace website. They sounded ok and decided to go. I was using a ticket from another person that decided not to go in the end. As soon as we got the place the atmosphere felt good and a lot of people started to show up.
The opening act were The Suckers and in the beginning I thought they were kind of low beat and different. Their sound was sort of hippish to me and something I wouldn't like. But after the first couple of songs I started to get them and then was really happy on how they started playing. In the end another guy came with a trumpet and started playing along and it was awesome. I was impressed by this band in a really cool way. Kudos to The Suckers. (I hope thats the real name of the band, did some little research and that was their name on their MySpace site.)
Menomena turned out to have a really good fan base in Atlanta and a lot of people showed up front stage. I honestly have to say I went appart from the crowd to try to appreciate them better but by the 5th song I was sitting on the chairs from the back. People seemed to be really interested in the band an knew a lot of their songs. For me that I was new to their music didn't get it quite well. A friend and I agreed that maybe it is what the young kids are hearing these days and that we were old. But from my part I can say that the older you get music wise you get better taste. Dont you think? It was a fun night though. We saw a real cat posing for us in a little five store.
Hey man I was at that show, awesome pics, Thanks for posting them!
