Ad Campaign Review: American Eagle Outfitters Fall 2010
This morning I woke up and grabbed an American Eagle Hoodie that is from the early 2000's. It is red and has the American Eagle logo on it. Two persons have already asked me why I am wearing American Eagle. I tell them that I can't keep up to the challenge of dressing everyday so I decided this morning to dress easily. And that's why I started to look for American Eagle images and I found out their most recently Ad Campaign online.
The images show a bunch of kids of the American Eagle demographic, having fun and posing with the clothes and the American flag. The company has made a way to differentiate itself from the four main stores that point to the same market: Aéropostale, American Eagle, Hollister & Co and its big brother Abercrombie and Fitch. Yes it is preppy, yes it is 100% American designs but they're not far from the global trends. It seems as always that these kind of stores have a really good positioning in the market place. They have become really appealing to kids and adults raging from different prices. The fashion mix and fitting of its designs are good. American Eagle lately has come up with different clothes that are higher in price giving the consumer a more high end American streetwear. And their advertising has become as aggresive as any other of their competitors.
I have to say I find myself easily seduced at the stores and tend to buy t-shirts and shorts and cool polos for cheap prices. They don't have a european cut or fitting but the clothes sell a lot. And yes Flip Flops are part of the fall line up. In the last couple of days I've seen people here in Atlanta wear fall clothes in flip flops and I like it. I mean I have never seen that anywhere else and I think that breaks to the point that American culture reflects in every peace of garment this company makes. And if you see closely a lot of the American designers stick to these kind of clothes but with a higher end in design an production.
And by this point I am realizing that every country and every city has its way of dressing. But I guess that these preppy, youth stores give the average American kid or young adult what they like and what they aspire to be.
And I still don't know if I should keep buying AE or stick to my old clothes of Mexico City which are more euro like. I'm confused. Different styles, different countries. In the end its just clothes.
